Explanatory memorandum

Class hour is designed for students of grades 5-6.
The leader is a teacher, he is assisted by assistants - children.
The class hour type is combined.
The main activities: conversation, play, visual activity, tasks for ingenuity.
The class hour is divided into several stages. Each stage contains new material. Children are given in advance the themes of messages about dinosaurs, the words of the song “Dinosaurs” (the author of the words – Rimician A., the composer – Reznikov B), the poem “Dinosaur”.
Children consolidate new knowledge through contests, songs, games, quizzes.
The entire course of the class hour is accompanied by a multimedia presentation prepared by the class leader together with the children.

Goals:

  • Activate the cognitive interests of schoolchildren in the field of wildlife through acquaintance with amazing animals of the past - dinosaurs;

Tasks:

  • Educational: to form students' ideas about the life of dinosaurs on Earth in the Mesozoic era, the ability to establish relationships in nature.
  • Developing: Develop imagination and observation, thinking and cognitive activity.
  • Educational: to cultivate interest in studying the history of the planet Earth, its nature.

Equipment:laptop, multimedia projector, large screen, presentation, watman, brushes, paints, pencils, exhibition of books "All about dinosaurs", phonogram of the song "Dinosaurs" (author of words - Rimitian A., composer - Reznikov V.)

Teacher:What happened? DINOSAUR - translated into Russian as "terrible lizard". But the dinosaurs are not at all terrible in the song that we know of, which I propose you to perform.

Dinosaurs.
The author of the words is Rimitian A., composer – Reznikov V.

1. As always during weekend hours.
He asks his son to tell me a story.
I was so tired of this thing then.
And then I decided suddenly.
Tell us about dinosaurs
And since then, it's only about them.

Singer:
Dinosaurs, maybe you hid in Africa
And chew baobabs for breakfast.
All science boredom despite
Dinosaurs, dinosaurs
Dinosaurs, dinosaurs

2. "There are no dinosaurs," I say all day.
“Knowledge is punished for great laziness
They don’t often brush pasta in the morning.
They're not interested in knowing how to charge.
The nobles were overweight.
Only he whispers through his sleep anyway.

chorus

II stage
Teacher:Today we will meet some representatives of these amazing animals, find out when they lived and why they are not here.
According to scientists, the universe appeared 14 billion years ago, and the Earth and the planets of the solar system – just over 4 billion years ago. The history of the Earth and life on it, scientists have divided into certain intervals - eras, which are divided into periods.
The Archean Era (3500 million years ago) is an era of hidden life, indicating the existence of bacteria and blue-green algae that did not appear immediately.
The Paleozoic Era (350 million years) was the age of marine invertebrates and fish.
The Mesozoic Era (150 million years) was the age of the dinosaurs.
The Cenozoic era (65 million years) is the time of animals, (2 million years) is the time of man.
Dinosaurs lived only in the Mesozoic era (225-65 million years ago). They reached an amazing height and quickly became extinct.
London Professor SirRichard OwenA zoologist and paleontologist, the first to call dinosaurs dinosaurs.
He lived in the 19th century (1804-1892).
Teacher:And now we're going to draw a little. And the theme of our drawing is "Dinosaur Baby." I give you the watman floor, brushes, paints, pencils. I urge you to be creative and paint a dinosaur. Good luck!
(children drawing)
Teacher:Some people say that dinosaurs inhabited the Earth when it was “young.” That's not exactly true. If you think of the entire multimillion-dollar history of the Earth as one day, the dinosaurs lived on it for less than an hour. And the history of human civilization would fit in half a second. Dinosaurs appeared 240 million years ago and disappeared 65 million years ago. Dinosaurs belonged to the class of reptiles or reptiles.
I suggest you watch a fragment of the BBC movie "Walking with Dinosaurs."
(Film viewing)
Teacher:There were many species of dinosaurs, but they all lived at different times. Some were very large, others were small. Some moved fast, others slowly. But they all lived on land, and none of them flew. Dinosaur cubs hatched from eggs laid in the sand by their mother. Dinosaurs dominated the Earth for many years.
They survived because they were more mobile and larger than other animals. In addition, they are easily adapted to different environmental conditions.
Today we will meet some of them.

Dinosaurs are divided into:

  1. Long neck
  2. duck-nosed
  3. shelling
  4. Fast-legged.
  5. Horned.
  6. Runners.
  7. Light hunters.
  8. Clawed
  9. Fatheaded
  10. Birdpods
  11. Giants

Teacher:Why do dinosaurs have such strange names? (The names of dinosaurs come from two ancient languages, Latin and Greek.) Usually, the names denoted some sign of this animal: Megalosaurus - a large lizard, Deinonychus - a terrible claw, Triceratops - a three-horned muzzle, Stegosaurus - a lizard under the roof. Dinosaurs are named after people or places. Masiacasaurus was named after rock singer Mark Knopfler.
Student reports(given in advance)
1 pupil:
Tyrannosaurus
Tyrannosaurus is the largest predator ever to inhabit our planet. His remains were first found in 1902 in Asia and western North America. Tyrannosaurus means "tyrant lizard." It lived in the late Cretaceous period, about 80 million years ago. This huge 15-meter giant weighed more than 8 tons. One of his skull was a meter and a half long. From the wide open mouth sticking sharp teeth, similar to sharks. Tyrannosaurus moved on powerful hind legs. His front legs were short, weak and had only two fingers. The huge head and short body were balanced by a long and thick tail. It is believed that the ferocious tyrannosaurs fed mainly carrion, because they did not run very fast, and could not chase the victim. With their terrible appearance, they probably scared other predators away from their prey. But recently, many scientists believe that Tyrannosaurus was a formidable hunter-killer. He ran fast enough (40 km / h), overtook his victim and killed her. But again, it's a hypothesis!
2 student:
Diplodok
Diplodok is one of the real giants of the late Jurassic period. The first fossilized skeleton was found in 1877 in the Rocky Mountains, Colorado. The diplomat reached a length of 30 meters. Most of them were on the neck and tail. His bones were hollow, so he weighed little - about 10 tons. Paleontologists called this dinosaur Diplodocus because at the end of his back, in the sacral region, he had a second brain. By the way, the brain of a diplodocus weighed less than the brain of a kitten. Probably, the diplodocus led a herd lifestyle, eating the leaves of low trees. Unable to chew, they swallowed stones that helped them grind their food. All day long, he wandered through the swamps, basked in warm water and ate, ate endlessly. The long tail of the diplodocus, ending with a thin "whiplash", served as an excellent tool of protection.
3 student:
Triceratops.
Triceratops - appeared at the end of the dinosaur era, about 70 million years ago. He lived in North America. Triceratops was a real giant: about 10 m long, 3 m high, and weighed 11 tons. He walked on four mighty, column-like legs. Triceratops means "three-horned face." The animal must have used these long horns as a weapon. The neck of Triceratops was protected by a huge bone frill. Despite its formidable appearance, Triceratops was a peaceful animal. He ate plants. The Triceratops lived a herd life. Even huge, hungry tyrannosaurs were wary of attacking an adult male Triceratops, much less an entire herd.
4 students:
Stegosaurus
Stegosaurus is a plate-covered scaly lizard. It is the strangest animal, according to British zoologist Richard Owen. His remains were first found in the United States in 1877. Stegosaurus was four-legged and herbivorous. About 10 meters long and weighed no more than 2 tons. He had a tiny head and a brain the size of a walnut. At the end of the tail there were two pairs of thorns resembling horns. They helped Stegosaurus defend itself from predators. The most amazing thing about this creature was a series of large bone plates descending along the back. They may have served as stegosaurus for protection from predators. They may have helped control the body temperature of the dinosaur. They helped to cool the body, which was important in the unusually hot climate of the Earth.
III stage
Teacher:I'm offering you the Dinosaur Connoisseurs contest.
You have to guess who we are talking about and put the number with the appropriate name of the dinosaur.
On the table, everyone has a list of dinosaur names. On the screen appear sequentially numbered slides depicting dinosaurs. You have to put a number with the appropriate name of the dinosaur.
Card.
Diplodok
Tyrannosaurus
Stegosaurus
Triceratops.
(Answers: Diplodocus 3, Tyrannosaurus 1, Stegosaurus 4, Triceratops 2)
IV stage
Teacher:In the days of the dinosaurs, there were no humans. No one has ever seen a dinosaur.
Now I suggest that you read the story of how Mila and Vova went to the museum to look at dinosaur skeletons.
(Children reading a story)
V stage
Descendants of dinosaurs
Teacher:Birds are the only true descendants of dinosaurs. Many elements of their body structure and egg strongly suggest that their ancestors were small predatory dinosaurs. The reason birds survive is that they were able to regulate body temperature even in harsh climates, primarily due to their plumage. The ostrich is strikingly similar to the ostrich dinosaur, the California running cuckoo to the small predatory dinosaur Compognatus.
Teacher:From time to time there are rumors and legends that dinosaurs survived to our time. In Scotland, on Lake Loch Ness, strange phenomena occur: as if a creature of enormous size floats to the surface of the lake.
Undoubtedly, the depths of the ocean hold many unsolved secrets. A lonely monster cannot live at the bottom of a lake. A whole family must live there, or the monster must grow old and die. But if there are twenty monsters in the water, why do we see them so rarely?
One of the most common theories is that the Loch Ness monster may be a surviving plesiosaur. Plesiosaure is a marine reptile that lived during the heyday of the dinosaurs, which ended about 65 million years ago. However, about 10 thousand years ago, there was a huge glacier on the site of Loch Ness for a long time. It is unlikely that any animals could survive in subglacial waters. The monster could have been a block of ice.
The depth of the lake is about 250 meters, and only the first 40 meters can become a habitat for ordinary marine animals. There are no signs of life below, as water temperatures rarely rise above 5C during the year. Any inhabitant of the depths feeds on plankton, which usually lives closer to the surface. Reptiles, as you know, can not withstand such cold, amphibians - too.
VI stage
reflection.
Teacher:Here comes our Fantastic Fossils class hour. We learned a lot about dinosaurs. How they lived, what they ate, what descendants of dinosaurs surround us.
Take a look at the book exhibition I have prepared for you. There are also children’s encyclopedias and books from the series “I want to know everything”. In these books you will find answers to all questions.
Now let's see how you listened carefully in class today. Take the signal cards. If you hear the correct statement, then raise the green card, if the wrong one is red.

  • Dinosaurs lived in the past. (Yes)
  • At the time of the dinosaurs, there were no humans on Earth. (Yes)
  • Dinosaurs were very large. (Yes)
