Class progress

I. Reporting the goals and objectives of the lesson.
I recently visited the Semikarakor Faience Factory and was delighted with everything I saw there.
Today I offer you to take a distance tour to the plant, get acquainted with its activities and act as artists of this enterprise: create a pattern for painting a decorative plate.

II. Wordwork.
But first we clarify such concepts as ceramics, porcelain, faience.
- Who can explain the meaning of these words?
(fired clay ceramics)
porcelain - mineral mass from the best varieties of white clay, kaolin and products, dishes from it)
Faience – a mass of clay with various impurities and products, dishes from this mass

III. The story of the Semikarakor Faience Factory.
Semikarakorsk is a small town, 150 km from Rostov.
And if you draw a straight line from Kashar to Semikarakorsk, it is only 200 km.
This place has long been famous for potters. On hand pottery circles from yellow Fedorov clay, they made dishes that were in great demand.
But gradually the pottery fell into decline – many cheaper factory pottery appeared on the market.
And only in the early 70s of the 20th century began the revival of Don ceramics.
From gray and white clay and sand received a new faience mass - such a gray, plain-looking.
From it, as a result of a complex technological process, things of untold beauty are obtained. From the faience mass are formed or cast products that are dried and perform 1 firing. The resulting shard is painted with oxides or metal salts, then coated with glaze and perform the 2nd firing.
In just 30 years, Semikarakor Faijans has gained worldwide fame. The plant sends its products to many countries in Europe and America. Only in Semikarkorsk they make a cut faience. A tea set of 132 items painted with plot scenes from Cossack life was presented to the first President of Russia Boris Yeltsin. In one of the rest rooms of the residence of the current President Vladimir Putin is a vase for flowers from Semikarakorsk. A vase in the form of a cathedral from Starocherkassk was presented to Patriarch Alexei II during the celebration of the 2000th millennium of Christianity.
And all this thanks to the creative research of people working in the factory. At the very beginning, faience was painted in blue paints. I had to refuse - the product was similar to Gzhel ceramics. Then for painting began to use a greenish-ochre scale - the colors of the burnt-out Don steppe.
But the Don steppe amazes with a wealth of colors in spring and early summer. Gradually, a color scheme was found, reflecting the multicolor of the fragrant Don steppe. I got my own style.

IV. Talk. Determination of the color range used for painting faience products.
- What colors do you think artists use to paint faience?
Nature in Semikarakorsk and in Kashara is the same, only we have a hilly terrain, and there is a flat space.
- What flowers do you meet when you walk along our steppe?
(thunderstorm, tangy, St. John's wort, cloves, chicory)
- What's the color scheme?
(white, yellow, pink, blue)

V. Analysis of faience products.
- Now let’s check the accuracy of our observations.
Here are the products of the Don faience. Guest kettle and little teapot. Decorative plate is an example of slotted faience.
The gentle ringing of faience
The motive is not forgotten.
And the waltz is fun.
Nice steppe flower.
... wrote in one of her poems Lyudmila Yurova, head of the factory museum.
Please look at the designs that decorate faience products.
The basis of any composition is a fantasy flower – one or two buds.
What does the word “fantasy” mean?
(A flower is not like this in nature)
Such a bouquet is called Aldoshina, after the name of the leading artist of production - Lyudmila Aldoshina.
There are only 10 artists in the company. They are working on creating new images.
Semikaracor ceramics pleases the eye, warms the soul, brings poetry to our everyday life, gives any interior a unique flavor, gives a dream.
From the wealth of expressive means, the artistic image of products was born, they became a work of decorative and applied art.

VI. Work to create a sketch pattern for a decorative plate.
Repeating the principles of building plant ornament in a circle.
- Imagine that you are artists of a faience factory, and you need to develop a new pattern for a decorative plate, following the established traditions and developing them.
First you will have to draw the pattern with a pencil, and then perform in color.
(You need to find the center by mentally drawing vertical and horizontal lines.)
There are one or two flowers in the center.
The elements of the pattern evenly fill the entire space of the circle.

VII. Independent work of students on the sketch of the pattern. Pencil work.
- You have a lap piece. On it with a pencil with light lines, you outline only the contours of the pattern, without drawing details. That gives you 10 minutes.

VIII. Definition of brush painting techniques.
You have successfully completed the first phase of your work.
Now you have the following task: create a pencil pattern to translate into color.
The entire composition of the pattern artists build a brush, so it is called carpal painting.
The master applies light, confident strokes, without resorting to a detailed outline.
There are several methods of carpal painting. Maybe someone will remember them.
(Apply – the brush is filled with paint, pressed sideways to the paper, without moving from place, while obtaining an oval smear. To get a beautiful shape, it begins to prescribe with the tip of the brush, almost without pressing it, then with strong pressure (it falls on the middle of the arc), and the contour ends again without pressing. The brush is held perpendicular to the painted surface. The final stage of painting is a revival. Using dark paint, the contours of petals, veins of leaves are prescribed with a brush, the rhythm of stamens is emphasized.
- Look at the products. Determine the methods of performing the painting.
(Apply - leaves on the kettle and plate, leaves on the plate).

IX. Training exercises.
You can practice a bit with the brush.
Determine the techniques that you will apply, what colors you will mix to achieve the desired shade. A little advice - when working with paints, add a little PVA glue to them. With further processing of your decorative plates, the paints will not mix.

X. Independent work of students on painting a decorative plate.

XI. Taking stock. Student exhibition.
- Look at your work.
- Could you accomplish the task of creating a new pattern for painting a decorative plate, preserving the traditions of the Don faience?
- What was the most interesting thing for you in class? - Thank you for your creativity.
