We were born and raised in peacetime. We have never heard sirens warning of war alarms, we have never seen houses destroyed by fascist bombs, we do not know what unheated dwellings and scant military rations are. We find it hard to believe that human life is as easy to end as a morning sleep. This year we celebrated the 65th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. So much time has passed since the glorious date of May 9, 1945, but the 1,418 days and nights of the war are well remembered by veterans - the people who gave us life and freedom.

Victory is not only joy, but also sorrow. It has been estimated that out of every hundred soldiers, only three survived. On hundreds of monuments and obelisks you will not see names, only the number of buried. They fell for the freedom and independence of our country. We bow our heads before the memory of those who holyly and to the end fulfilled their duty, before veterans who did not live to this day.
